Blew a tire on an extremely hot Wednesday on the 417. Called a few places. First few couldn't get my kind of tire. Other places also mentioned I'd likely have to replace both rears. Kal Tire said I could get towed there and they would have my tire in and replaced by Friday.. relief in the sweltering heat.
When I got there, I asked if I needed both tires done like others mentioned (fairly new vehicle). They had a look, checked the treads, and told me my other tire was in great condition, only the one had to be replaced. I valued their honesty.. saved me a lot of money.
Bonus was tire came in earl, so got my wheels back earlier than expected. Hope I don't need to go in for something like that again, but I was very impressed with their fast, friendly service and 100% would recommend.
(Will try to upload after photo later)
I wish I could give this place 0 stars - if you're needing work done on your car, DON'T TAKE IT HERE!
I originally brought my car in about 3 weeks ago to get the front brakes replaced as they were starting to squeal. I was then told that it was actually my rear right brake and the entire piston had seized so they needed to do a full CPR - this brought my cost up from about $500 to $1500.
After this was done and I went to get the car again, I was told that my parking brake was worn down and may need replacing in the near future. When I returned home, the parking brake was not engaging. I called back to ask why this was the case when I was told it didn't need any more immediate work, I was then told that I must have "misunderstood" what was said to me (not the case). Why they let me leave in a standard vehicle without a working parking brake is beyond me.
I brought the car back a week later to have the parking brake fixed, and was then told that hydraulic fluid was leaking from the bottom of my car when they notified me the brake was fixed. It's now been another full week of my car being in the shop and it has still not been fixed. I was originally told Monday or Tuesday, then called yesterday to find out more and was told it would be off the lifts by the end of the day today. I called at 4:30pm today and was told that the contact I had been dealing with (Rob) was already gone for the day - must have needed to leave in a real hurry if he couldn't have found 2 minutes to call me with.
- None of these issues were present before I originally brought the car in weeks ago.
- I have had to call myself to find out the details as no one at the shop seems to have any sense of customer service or accountability. If you tell me something will be done by a certain time, I expect it to be done by then or at least give me a call back to let me know. I should not have to be hunting you down when you're providing me a service.
- This whole process has taken 3 weeks (so far) and has caused many interruptions at work.
- No one has offered any discounts to rectify this awful experience.
Overall, I have had a horrific experience dealing with this shop and would recommend you bring your vehicle ANYWHERE else but here. I will never bring my car back for service again and hope that this review helps someone else avoid the headache I've been dealing with.
I booked for 4:30pm for new tire installs. Was told it would take multiple hours to get to it. What's the point of booking an appointment if you're not going to honour it. I understand there may be unforeseen issues but it would have been nice to be called before I made the trek from across town only to wait multiple hours. Ended up buying the tires and going somewhere else to get them installed
I had a slow leak in one tire, and dropped in on a Sunday morning. It was the first Sunday they had opened, to handle the tire-changing surge. The owner was at the front desk, saw us right away and was very helpful. He looked at the puncture, and explained the tire had to be replaced because a patch at that location would not hold long-term (near the sidewall). He checked online with dealers and wholesalers to look for one, but unsuccessfully. After some searching on my own, we found one retail. I brought it back, and it was installed quickly, and for a great price. Great service overall, and will be coming back.
Take your car elsewhere.
I booked an appointment online for winter tire swaps and a free wiper blade inspection. The appointment was for 3:30PM and I showed up around 10 minutes early. After checking in to the front desk, I was told by one of the employees that they were a little backed and I should expect it to take up to 90 minutes for my car to be serviced. Fast forward 2 1/2 hours later, I’m very annoyed at this point. I haven’t said a single word and just sat patiently while I watched customer after customer get called up. There were even people who came in with no appointments and were serviced before me. Several times the employees apologized to other customers for the wait and it wasn’t until 5:50PM that I was finally called up from a different employee that checked me in. Mind you at this point I was the second last customer in the store and they close at 5:30
I received no apology for my long wait time, and the employee even tried charging me more than my original quote that I was given when I booked online. Not a word was mentioned about my wiper blades or even the condition of either sets of tires, but they didn’t hesitate to tell my breaks were pretty much done and should replace them. I was not even given a copy of the diagnostic to see for myself the shape of my breaks.
This will be my first and last time taking my car to KalTires. 2 1/2 hours is absolutely ridiculous for a tire swap, the tires are not on rims so I expected it to take a bit longer, but nowhere near that extent.
Visited Kal Tire Nepean on Monday this week to get my winter tires on. I brought my tires in my new 2023 Sorrento. When the car was done the service guy informed me that the leather had been torn on one of the rear seats. It was about an …
